Businesses across America saw sales diminish in May 2021. Before you react, Read This:

We think there is a logical explanation (in most cases) for a reduction in sales over the last few weeks, and you should resist blaming the marketing company as a starting point.
Here’s some encouraging news that will show you there’s light at the end of the tunnel.
Did your sales tank out of nowhere in May?
It’s VERY likely don’t need to worry.
Here’s why.
My guess is many of you are suddenly experiencing a decrease in sales. Many of you are doing as much, if not more marketing, yet are seeing diminishing results over the last few weeks.
The good news is, for most of us, there is a very logical explanation and you will find this encouraging.
At Peak Marketing Service, we own 37 lead generation websites. These sites target over 100 different industries. We also have several clients we do SEO work for.
Over the last few weeks, we observed an across-the-board reduction in website traffic and leads.
Now the natural response would be to go and start changing everything you do and pointing the finger at people (especially the marketing team). But for us, and probably many of you, there is a logical explanation for this and this is important to know.
First, let me point out two critical observations that we found.
1-We did not see any significant decrease in organic rankings on any of the 50+ websites we manage. Logically when you do not see a decrease in how you rank for industry keywords you should not usually expect to see traffic change too much. Of course there are exceptions, like seasonal businesses.
2-We did see diminishing organic clicks decreased, ranging from 15% to 30%.
What we discovered is when your rankings for industry keywords have not diminished, any change in traffic/clicks will generally be attributed to how the market is currently looking for those products or services.
Here’s what we believe is happening.
Covid-19 shut the world down. We were all locked up at home. And for some businesses, there was a lot of profits to be earned as people spent their money differently during this time. But…….The world is now entering a recovery mode. Everyone was shut in, and now we’re getting back to life.
We are convinced that, for a short period of time, American consumers are temporarily tabling some investments as they get out and try to return back to the life that was put on pause over a year ago. So instead of buying new home windows, a new car, new computer, etc., people are just getting out and catching up on what we missed out on over the last year. Vacations are on the rise. People are visiting family out of town. We’re getting out to outdoor events, etc.
All this is to say is that if anyone is scratching their head about why their leads are suddenly down, I think that bouncing back from this pandemic is most likely the culprit, and we should be careful not to make knee-jerk responses to something that will probably fix itself over the next few weeks.
I assume we will see these diminishing leads for at least another 2-4. We just need to get some of this out of our system and breathe again.
The encouraging news is that this is likely a temporary condition that will work itself out very quickly. I’m convinced the American people are resilient and we will get back to a booming economy soon enough.
We’d like to hear what other entrepreneurs are experiencing.
